A Typical Day – Preschool Room
Growing, learning & getting school ready
Our Preschool children enjoy a busy day filled with free-flow play,
early learning, outdoor experiences, stories, friendships and plenty
of opportunities to develop confidence and independence.
Learning through everyday experiences
Preschool is all about helping children become increasingly confident,
independent and curious while still giving them plenty of time to learn
through play.
Throughout the day we introduce early phonics and maths alongside
stories, imaginative play, outdoor learning and practical routines
that help children prepare for their next step into school.
Free-flow play πΏ
Children arrive and settle into the day through free-flow play,
choosing activities and spending time with friends and familiar
practitioners.
Registration π
We come together for registration and our morning routine.
This gives children a familiar start to the day and helps
develop confidence, listening and a sense of belonging.
Play, phonics & early maths π€
Children return to free-flow play with opportunities for
phonics, early maths and learning through the environment.
They can also enjoy areas such as the book corner and home
corner, alongside creative and imaginative activities.
Snack time π
Children come together for snack, developing social skills
and independence through everyday routines such as handwashing,
making choices and managing their own belongings.
Outdoor time π³
We head outdoors for active play, exploration and learning.
Outdoor experiences give children opportunities to develop
physical skills, confidence, curiosity and teamwork.
Stories & singing π
Before lunch we come together for stories and singing,
supporting children’s communication, listening, imagination
and enjoyment of books and language.
Lunch together π½οΈ
Lunchtime is a relaxed and sociable part of the day.
Children can enjoy a hot meal prepared at Brambles or bring
a suitable packed lunch from home.
Free-flow afternoon π±
After lunch, children return to free-flow play with opportunities
to choose activities, continue projects, play with friends and
follow their interests.
Teeth & school-ready routines πͺ₯
We support the children with brushing their teeth and learning
the everyday self-care routines that help build independence
and confidence as they become school ready.
Afternoon snack π
Children enjoy their afternoon snack together before moving
back into the final part of the day’s play and activities.
Free-flow play & story sacks β¨
The afternoon continues with free-flow play and story sacks,
giving children more opportunities for imaginative play,
conversation, storytelling and shared learning.
Confidence for their next big step
Being school ready is about much more than letters and numbers.
We help children develop independence, communication, friendships,
confidence, self-care skills and a positive attitude towards learning,
so they feel prepared for the transition to school.
A little extra fun
π΅ Zumba
Preschool children also enjoy Zumba, combining music and movement
in a fun, energetic session that encourages confidence, coordination
and physical activity.
